NV Performance Takes South Africa’s First G87 M2 Into the 9s

Once again, NV Performance has raised the bar by breaking its own record and taking South Africa’s first BMW G87 M2 into the nine-second quarter-mile bracket.

This milestone represents a defining moment for our team and the South African performance community. It demonstrates what is possible when proven engineering, precise calibration and an uncompromising approach to performance come together.

From 10.02 to 9.6 Seconds

Only a few months ago, our G87 M2—equipped with the NV Performance S800R package—completed the quarter mile in an impressive 10.02 seconds.

That run established it as the fastest G87 M2 in South Africa at the time.

But at NV Performance, standing still is never an option.

We returned to the strip determined to push the platform further. The result was an extraordinary 9.6-second quarter-mile pass, making this the first G87 M2 in South Africa to break into the nine-second bracket.

It was more than an improvement on our previous time. It was a completely new national benchmark.

Performance Without Compromise

What makes this achievement particularly significant is the configuration of the car.

Our record-setting G87 M2 retains:

• Factory stock turbochargers
• A stock engine
• A stock gearbox
• Its complete interior

This is not a stripped-out, single-purpose race car. It is a genuine street-driven performance vehicle engineered to deliver exceptional results without sacrificing everyday usability.

The achievement proves that elite performance does not have to come at the expense of comfort, practicality or reliability.

Driven to the Track—and Back Home

To demonstrate the real-world reliability of the S800R package, we did not transport the G87 M2 to the event on a trailer.

We drove it from Johannesburg to KwaZulu-Natal, recorded a 9.6-second pass and drove it back home again.

The car performed on the road, delivered on the track and completed the return journey under its own power.

That is the NV Performance standard: genuine performance supported by genuine reliability.

Driven, Proven and Trusted

Behind the wheel was Neval Kanjee, a driver who has already cemented his name in South African BMW performance history.

Neval also holds the distinction of piloting one of South Africa’s fastest BMW G80s, previously recording an exceptional 8.63-second quarter-mile pass at a trap speed of 264km/h.

That result followed earlier passes in the 8.8-second range at approximately 256km/h, demonstrating the continuous development of the platform and the team supporting it.

His experience, consistency and ability to perform under pressure played an important role in taking the G87 M2 into previously uncharted territory.

First Place at Dezzi Raceway

The weekend produced another outstanding result when the NV Performance team secured first place in the 6BR class at Dezzi Raceway.

Competing in a demanding environment requires much more than outright power. It takes careful preparation, dependable hardware, precise calibration and the ability to deliver when it matters most.

This victory was another reflection of the dedication and technical expertise behind every NV Performance build.

Setting the Pace for What Comes Next

Taking a stock-turbo G87 M2 into the nine-second bracket is more than another number on a timing board.

It is a statement about what can be achieved through the right engineering, calibration and relentless pursuit of progress.

We set the benchmark at 10.02 seconds. Then we returned and lowered it to 9.6.

And we are only getting started.

Records are made to be broken—and NV Performance intends to keep breaking them.
