NV Performance at Lenz Race Day
On 16 July 2023, the NV Performance team attended Lenz Race Day at Midvaal Raceway in Gauteng.
Our day began on a crisp winter morning as we departed from our headquarters in Kyalami, Johannesburg. With Midvaal Raceway approximately 90 kilometres away, the drive gave everyone an opportunity to settle in before a full day of racing and automotive action.
We brought several clients along to enjoy their cars in a safe and controlled environment. The NV Performance line-up included:
- BMW M340i xDrive
- BMW F80 M3
- BMW G80 M3
- BMW F90 M5
A Well-Organised Day at the Track
With approximately 160 entries, the event attracted an impressive turnout. Despite the number of competitors and spectators, the Lenz Race Day organisers kept everything running smoothly throughout the day.
Once we arrived, we set up our gazebos and stocked them with snacks and refreshments for the team. Between the racing, we had a chance to relax, catch up and enjoy some much-needed social time.
As expected from a group of dedicated petrolheads, almost every conversation eventually returned to cars, modifications and performance.
Ricardo’s G80 M3
One of the day’s standout vehicles was our G80 M3, driven by Ricardo Sunnos.
Equipped with a JB4 and a Strada Performance exhaust, the G80 arrived in full street trim with Ricardo aiming to complete a ten-second quarter-mile pass.
He recorded an impressive best time of 10.8 seconds. One of the day’s highlights was watching the G80 outperform a Porsche 911 Turbo S.
The performance demonstrated just how capable the G80 platform is with relatively limited modifications. As development continues, these cars will undoubtedly become a serious force at South African racing events.
Shival’s Consistent M340i xDrive
Next was Shival Adojia in his BMW M340i xDrive.
This is a full-weight street car that even retains a large sound system in the boot. Despite this, it remains one of the most consistent cars we see at the track.
Shival can drive it to an event, complete repeated ten-second quarter-mile passes and drive it home without any drama. The following morning, the same car returns to navigating everyday traffic.
That combination of performance, consistency and everyday usability is precisely what defines a true street car.
Tasheel’s NV-Tuned F80 M3
Then we had Tasheel—better known for his confidence and determination behind the wheel.
His F80 M3 has relatively few modifications, but Tasheel knows how to get the most out of it. The car is driven hard regularly, yet it continues to demonstrate the reliability that remains central to every NV Performance build.
Throughout the day, Tasheel competed against several F80 and F82 M3 and M4 drivers, delivering a strong performance and showing exactly what an NV-tuned M3 can do.
The F90 M5 Makes Its Mark
Our F90 M5 completed only one run, but one was enough to make an impression.
The M5 lined up against an A90 Supra and delivered an explosive launch. From the moment the brake was released, the result was clear—the F90 was an absolute rocket.
A Memorable Day with the Community
Lenz Race Day gave us another opportunity to enjoy our cars, connect with fellow enthusiasts and spend time with the wider South African performance community.
The event combined competitive racing with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. We enjoyed hearing the cars at full throttle, watching our clients put their builds to the test and sharing the experience with everyone who attended.
